World Thrombosis Day

Mission

World Thrombosis Day (WTD) is led by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis in collaboration with hundreds of international professional health and medical organizations and health advocates.

Recognized on 13 October, WTD focuses attention on the often overlooked and misunderstood disease of thrombosis, or abnormal and potentially deadly blood clots. Of particular focus is venous thromboembolism (VTE, or blood clots in the legs and lungs) which is the leading preventable cause of hospital death worldwide. Location: Santa Monica, CA
